Off-Duty Cop Hits Pedestrian Trying to Hail a Cab

An
off-duty New York City police officer has been arrested after his SUV
hit a young woman, the daughter of a local pastor, trying to hail a
cab. The driver was under the influence at the time, and has been
charged by police with vehicular manslaughter and driving
intoxicated. There were several other passengers, including another
off-duty police officer, in the vehicle when it hit the woman at 1
a.m. Sunday morning. The woman was pronounced dead upon arrival at
the hospital.
