NYC Cop Charged in DUI Pedestrian Death
/> A New York City police officer has been charged withvehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated. Officer Andrew Kelly wasarrested Sunday after his sport utility vehicle struck and killed a pastor’sdaughter as she crossed the street early Sunday. Police Commissioner RaymondKelly said “the officers who responded to the accident detected the smell ofalcohol on the driver’s breath.” The car hit Vionique Valnord on Avenue N in Brooklyn around1 a.m. Sunday when she was trying to hail a cab after leaving a weddingreception. The 30 year-old pastor’s daughter was pronounced dead on arrival atKings County Hospital. Various Valnord, the victim’s father, who is a pastor at theChurch of God in Brooklyn, delivered his sermon to almost 100 congregants asscheduled Sunday, hours after his daughter’s death.
