NYPD Detective Killed in Car Accident
/> An off-duty New York City police detective was killed in acar accident early Saturday morning on the Brooklyn-Queens expressway.According to Kenny Sparks, secretary of the Detectives Endowment Associationunion, Detective Timothy Duff, 42, was killed when his 2006 Toyota Camrycollided with the back of a private sanitation truck. An NYPD police spokesperson confirmed that Duff, a member ofthe Brooklyn homicide unit, was involved in an accident that occured around4:19 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the Kosciuszko Bridge. Duff was taken to the Elmhurst Hospital Center in Elmhurst,where he was pronounced dead at 5:19 a.m. The medical examiner’s office isinvestigating the cause of death. It is unclear whether the driver of the sanitation truck wasinjured.
