Queens DA Says Driver Did Drugs Before Crash

The woman admitted to police that she had done drugs earlier thatday. Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said that SheilaBethea admitted she smoked crack around 2 a.m. Monday morning, did heroinaround 9 a.m. and had one drink around 12:00 p.m. The accident occurred around5 p.m. Bethea pleaded not guilty Wednesday night to charges ofmanslaughter, second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child.Bethea is being held on a $500,000 bail.
