Study Shows Students & Doctors Most Likely to be Involved in Car Accidents

A new study released by the Quality Planning Corporationshows that students, doctors, and lawyers are the groups most frequentlyinvolved in car accidents.

Quality Planning, a California firm that works withinsurance companies found that students were more frequently involved in caraccidents than anyone else. Doctors topped the list for professionals that aremost frequently involved in crashes. Lawyers came in second and architectsthird. Real estate agents came in fourth.

Tim Cox, a spokesman for Quality Planning Corp., said thatlack of experience would account for the large amount of student crashes. Thereport showed that for every 1,000 students there are about 152 car accidentsand 87 speeding tickets per year. For doctors there were 109 car crashes and 44speeding tickets per 1,000. For lawyers, 106 car accidents and 37 speedingtickets.

The other professions in the top ten were enlisted militarypersonnel, social workers, manual laborers, analysts, engineers andconsultants.

Tom Brokaw Involved in NYC Crash, 1 Killed

Former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw and his wife say theyescaped injury in a three-vehicle accident on a New York City highway.

The legendary newsman said that they narrowly avoidedserious injury in a crash that resulted in the death of a 30 year-old woman andinjured the driver of a mail truck on Friday afternoon. Police say a 1998 FordExpedition lost control and overturned, colliding with a mail truck.

Accordin to Brokaw, the mail truck then smashed into hisvehicle. The 69 year-old and his wife Meredith said in a statement that theywere “greatly saddened by the loss of life.”

Weezer Singer Cuomo Injured in Upstate New York Crash

Rivers Cuomo, lead singer of the rock band Weezer, wasinjured in an accident on the New York State Thruway on Monday.

The indie rock superstar was enroute to Boston following aSaturday night concert at Toronto’s Air Canada Centre. The band’s tour bus lostcontrol after it reportedly hit a patch of ice on the highway and struck aguide rail. The bus then slid off the road and into a ditch.

Lead singer Rivers Cuomo and assistant to the band, SarahKim, were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Cuomo’s wife and2 year-old daughter were also onboard, however the two walked away from theaccident unscathed.

2 Injured in Route 32 Car Accident

A three car accident on Route 32 resulted in two injuredpeople and two totaled vehicles.

Officers from the Cairo Police Department responded to theaccident shortly before 2:30 p.m. Police say a white Honda CR-V flipped over onto it’s roof and struck agray Subaru Forester on the driver’s side and a green Hyundai near the fronttire on the passenger side.

The three vehicles were traveling northbound on Route 32when the accident occurred. The names of the people involved have not beenreleased.

Two peopole, however, were transported to the Albany MedicalCenter. One suffered a possible hip injury and the other may have sustained ahead injury.

College Student Killed in New York Car Crash

New York State Police are investigating a deadly one-carcrash in Tupper Lake, New York.

Police say a car of college students were heading south onRoute 30 near Potsdam when the car left the road and overturned several times.20 year-old Erica Romaniello was driving the vehicle, shortly before 1 p.m.when the accident occurred.

A passenger in the vehicle, 21 year-old Tyrell Spencer, wasejected from the car. He later died from his injuries at a nearby hospital.

Romaniello and another passenger, 18 year-old Jean Carroll,were taken to a local hospital with head and neck injuries.

New York Police Officer Injured While Investigating Car Accident

An Oneida City Police Department patrolman was injured whileinvestigating a car accident on West Genesee Street in Oneida, New York onThursday.

The officer was investigating an accident when he was struckby a vehicle driving eastbound on West Genesee St. Oneida Fire DepartmentRescue treated the officer at the scene and he was then transported to St.Elizabeth’s Hospital by Vineall Ambulance. His injuries were not consideredlife threatening.

The names of the police officer and the driver of thevehicle have not been released. The accident is under investigation by theOneida City Police Department and the New York State Police.

Victims Identified in Fatal New York Crash

Police have released the names of four people involved in afatal one-car crash in the town of Paris, New York.

The two passengers in the vehicle who were pronounced deadat the scene of the accident have been identified as 19 year-old Saem Ho and 19year-old Young Wang.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 19 year-old HyunSung Chang. A backseet passenger was identified as Chaewan Shin, also 19years-old. Chang and Shin were transported to a hospital following the accidentwhere they were treated and later released.

All four victims were students at Syracuse University. Thefour were on their way to New York City for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The accident occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Route 12in the town of Paris.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash.
