According to Jennifer Friedberg, a spokeswoman for the PortAuthority of New York and New Jersey, thirteen commuters reported minorinjuries and seven, including two crew members, were taken to nearby hospitals.Friedberg said investigators had not yet determined what caused the crash orhow fast the train, arriving from Hoboken, was moving when the accident occurred.
There were approximately 450 passengers on the seven-cartrain, when it crashed around 8:15 a.m. The device that stopped the train, which is called a bumping block, is intended to absorb most of the impact oftrains that fail to stop at the end of the line.
