One Injured in Upstate DWI Crash

A man in Nelson, New York, was sent to the hospital and adriver charged with DWI on Wednesday evening.

Police say 19 year-old Jonathan Reinhardt was traveling downErieville Road shortly before 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday night.  Reinhardt lost control of his car,going off the road, and hitting a guard rail and landing in a ditch alongsidethe road.  A 21 year-old passengerin the vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of lacerations.

Reinhardt showed a blood alcohol content of .16 percent atthe time of the accident, double the New York legal limit of .08 percent. Thefact that Reinhardt is under 21 years-old means that the legal limit for him inthe state is .02 percent.

Reinhardt was charged with DWI, unsafe speed, and failure tokeep right of the center.

2 Killed in Highway 162 Collision

Two people were killed in a two car, head-on crash onhighway 162  on Saturday.

Montgomery County Sheriff Michael Amato said the collision occurrednear the intersection of Rappa Road shortly before 5:35 a.m. on Saturday.

23 year-old Marc Priddle was driving his 2001 Jeepsouthbound on the highway. 21 year-old Vincent Chase was driving his 1997 Isuzupick up truck northbound. According to police, the initial investigation showedthat one vehicle crossed the center line causing the crash, though whichvehicle has not been determined. Priddle’s Jeep went off the road and caughtfire.

Police await and autopsy and toxicology report.

1 Killed, 1 Injured in New York Car Crash

One person is dead after a car crash on New York State Route3 in Plattsburgh.

Authorities were called to the scene of the crash shortlyafter 9 a.m. on Friday. The accident occurred near Banker Road, near the Townof Plattsburgh’s municipal building.

Authorities have confirmed that one person died in the crashand another was transported to a nearby hospital.

Witnesses to the accident say that over the last severalyears there have been close to a half dozen accidents at the intersection ofRoute 3 and Banker Road.

4 Injured in New York Police Crash Ahead of Biden's Motorcade

Four people were injured Tuesday when a  New York Police Department squad cardriving ahead of Vice President Joe Biden’s motorcade struck another vehicle inManhattan.

New York Police Department Liutenant Mike Wysokowskiconfirmed the accident, saying “At 1730 hours, an advance element comprised ofthree police cars, lights and sirens operating, was traveling west on West 49thStreet when the second of the three struck a Lincoln Town Car.”

Two police officers and two occupants of the Lincoln wereinjured in the crash.

Wyskowskie was not aware of whether the accident affectedBiden’s travel.

The crash is the third in a week involving the vicepresident’s motorcade.

Two cars normally part of Biden’s detail hit and killed apedestrian in Maryland on November 11.

On Monday a deputy sheriff in Albuquerque, New Mexicoescorting the vice president’s motorcade was struck by a car.

Student Sues School After Dodgeball Accident

A student at a Bronx school is suing the school districtafter being injured in a class game of dodgeball.

Teachers at Intermediate School 219 allowed students to playthe game with hard soccer balls. 12 year-old Shane Reese was sitting out of thegame because he had just had some teeth repaired after a car crash. A roguesoccer ball struck Shane in the face, breaking his new bridgework.

Mark Weinberger, Shane’s lawyer, says the school is to blamebecause “There was an issue of lack of supervision... There were six classeshuddled into this confined area… [Shane] wasn’t supposed to be playing and hewas struck in the face.”

Education Department spokesman William Havemann did notcomment on the lawsuit, but said “We don’t believe dodgeball is an appropriateactivity, but there is no formal ban.”

The city has offered Reese $20,000 in compensation.

Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Staten Island Crash

A woman is seriously injured after being struck by a car infront of a high school in Staten Island, New York.

The New York Police Department reported to the scene of aserious accident involving a high school girl. The accident occurred when thefemale pedestrian was crossing Luten Avenue right in front of Tottenville HighSchool.

Emergency medical services responded to the scene andtransported the pedestrian to Staten Island University Hospital, near OceanBreeze. She was treated for life-threatening injures. Her condition, at thistime, is not known.

Police continue to investigate the accident.

3 Injured in West Side Highway Crash

Three people were injured in a crash in the southbound lanes of the West Side Highway.

According to New York City Police, a northbound driver was speeding and lost control of his vehicle, which moved into the southbound lanes and collided head-on with another car. The accident occurred around 125th Street shortly before 7:30 a.m. Police say the northbound car was demolished.

The three injured people were transported to St. Luke’s Hospital. Their injuries were described as minor by police, one person has already been released from the hospital.

Investigators continue to look into the crash. Police do not believe alcohol to be a factor in the crash.
