New York State Trooper Killed in Car Crash

A New York State Trooper was killed when his squad carstruck a utilty pole on Wednesday afternoon.

30 year-old David Lane, an officer with the Catskillbarracks, was traveling northbound on Route 32 when he attempted to passanother vehicle. The vehicle clipped the officer’s car sending him off the roadinto a utility pole. Police and Emergency medical services reported to thescene of the accident shortly before 2:30 in the afternoon.

Lane had been an active member of the police department forfour years, and was patrolling the area at the time of the fatal accident. Hewas pronounced dead at the scene.

Police temporarily closed both directions of Route 32 foremergency vehicles, and to allow detectives to investigate the accident.
